🏛 Moai statue at Rano Raraku - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Moai statue at Rano Raraku, Easter Island

Rano Raraku is an ancient volcanic crater and quarry on Easter Island, famous as the birthplace of the island’s iconic moai statues. More than 400 moai—some completed, others still half-carved in bedrock—dot the quarry’s slopes, showcasing all stages of carving. This site was the main “factory” for moai production for centuries, making it one of the most impressive and mysterious archaeological sites on the island.

Tips:
• Visits are limited: your national park ticket allows just one entry, so take your time to explore.
• Stay on marked paths and don’t touch the statues—rangers strictly enforce rules.
• Good walking shoes are recommended; some paths are steep or uneven.
• Early morning or late afternoon visits offer great lighting for photos and fewer crowds.
• Don’t miss the crater’s lake or the unfinished moai still embedded in rock.

📍 Location in Moai, Ara O Te Rohi Rohi, Easter Island, Easter Island Province, Valparaiso Region, Chile
